Two NH Men Arrested for 12B Fire

State Troopers from the Morrisville substation and BCI charged two New Hampshire men after a fire destroyed a vacant building at 2295 12B in the Town of Madison and just north of the village on Wednesday night.

Troopers arrested Samuel D. Kramer,31 of Portsmouth, NH and Darren S. Coco Jr, 23 of Derry, NH. Both suspects were residing at the Wendt University Hotel next door to the house that burned while working in the area. Troopers say they were inside the building when the fire was accidentally started.

They were charged with Criminal Mischief 4th & Criminal Trespass. They were arraigned by Hamilton Village Justice Donald Haight and remanded to Madison County Jail on $1,000 cash bail.

The large house that burned was owned by Wesley Wendt, who also owns the hotel.

Chief Ross Hoham said the Hamilton Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Madison Fire Department and Madison Ambulance at the scene.  The Earlville Fire Department covered Hamilton’s response area with a stand-by crew in Hamilton.

The investigation was conducted by Investigator Dennis Dougherty, Troopers Larry Puccio and Brian Derochie, and Hamilton PD Officer Michael Mordus.
