HCS Girls Soccer: Filling Some Big Soccer Cleats

When the history of girls soccer in hamilton gets written, the names of Tiffany Jones-Maxwell and Emily Truett will have their own chapters. Both established themselves as exceptional talents and helped make the HCS Lady Emerald Knights successful.

And, now they are gone.

Jones-Maxwell graduated and Truett moved to Pennsylvania. Combined, they drove the HCS offense since suiting up for Coach Harry Jarcho.

Such is the life of a high school coach. But, Jarcho is looking forward to a solid team effort and the leadership of several veterans to keep HCS competitive in a tough schedule.

That schedule began today at Sherburne-Earlville; HCS also plays at S-E on Saturday in the second half of the tournament.

Last Year

League Record: 8-2, league co-champions. Overall Record: 13-5-0

Goals

My goal is to make every player feel that she contributes and is important to the team. I would also like our girls to feel that they are physically and mentally prepared so that they go into every game with the belief that they can win if they play their best game.

Not Back This Year

We lost Tiffany Jones-Maxwell to graduation and Emily Truett, who moved to Pennsylvania. Together, they accounted for over half of last season's goals. We also lost a league all-star goalkeeper when Jordan Peterson decided to focus on basketball in the fall.

Team Strengths

Thus far, team chemistry, a good spirit among the players, and outstanding leadership from co-Captains Kinzea Jones and Rachel Holcomb are our main strengths.

Key Players

I am hoping that veteran leadership from Kinzea Jones, Rachel Holcomb, Katie Weeks, and Katherine Keever will stabilize a young squad and lead us to victories.

The Competition

Our league is significantly stronger due to reallignment. We now face Sauquoit, Waterville, and Mt. Markham as league opponents, in addition to Morrisville-Eaton, Canastota, and Sherburne. Our four non-league games are also against larger class schools. There are no easy games on our schedule.
