Colgate Soccer Teams to Host 'Kick With The Raiders'

The Colgate University men's and women's soccer teams are inviting fans and friends to join them for the inaugural Kick With The Raiders event on Friday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the university's soccer practice fields.

The event, which is open to the public, will give fans the opportunity to meet and get autographs from their favorite players and coaches. There will also be a series of competitions for participants which include shooting on the Colgate goalies, soccer relay races and one-on-ones with the players, to name a few. Admission for the event is free.

Head women's soccer coach Kathy Brawn sees the program as a way to reach out to children in the community and give them positive role models.

"Kick With The Raiders is an opportunity for people in the community to come out and play with the players on the men's and women's soccer teams at Colgate," said Brawn. "We have got these two terrific groups of athletes at Colgate who play division I soccer, are at the top of things academically and athletically and are fantastic to be around. They set a great example for the children in the community."

This is the first time that the teams will be hosting the event and it promises to be a fun night of activities that both kids and parents will enjoy.

Men's head soccer coach Erik Ronning feels this will be a great way for the athletes to get in touch with the community and their fans.

"This event provides a wonderful opportunity for area youth soccer players and members of the Hamilton community to interact and work with our student athletes on a personal level," stated Ronning. "Support from the community has always been a great tradition at Colgate and we hope this will strengthen that relationship."

Soccer attire is optional for participants and all skill levels are welcome. Pizza and drinks will be provided at the venue and there will be parking available at Andy Kerr stadium and Tyler's Field.
