Colgate Grads Among Best Paid

Listen closely as they play Pomp And Circumstance at Colgate's commencement this May. Pay attention and you will hear, "Ka-ching!"

That's because Colgate grads are among the best paid when they enter and progress in the job market, according to Pay Scale, a website that tracks what various professions are paid.

Colgate grads ranked seventh, ahead of Notre Dame (8), Yake (9) and Penn (10). Their starting median salary, according to the survey, is $51,900 and that more than doubles by what Pay Scale calls "mid-career".

Not making the top 10: Hamilton College, which always seems to be a spot ahead or behind neighboring Colgate in various "best of" rankings.

School Name / Starting Median Salary / Mid-Career Median Salary

1. Dartmouth College: $58,200 / $129,000
2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): $71,100 / $126,000
3. Harvard University: $60,000 / $126,000
